Rainbow crossing or icon of national acceptance?

In Feburary 2013, the Sydney City Council approved a major act of equality which caused an uprising in the Eastern suburbs from those whom opposed homosexuality. What does this have to do with 'Tha Streets'? Well, that's easy. This supposed act of equality was seen through nothing more than a crossing across Oxford street, Sydney. But! this wasn't just any old crossing, it was in fact a coloured symbol in celebration of the 2013 mardy gras. Here's a quick video:

This crossing was largely supported by most of the City of Sydney councellors but was largely opposed by liberal party members, Edward Mandla and Christine Forester. The cost of the crossing was also expensive, suprisingly enough! with a total of $110, 000 spent on the crossing itself, alone with major traffic delays for the night. A questions i'd put to you though is, would YOU have kept the stripy rainbow coloured equality ridden goodness that was the crossing? Anyways! As a result of this some what move forward in today's social agenda, it was short after painted over and gotten rid of.
